What happens next?

We will review all feedback we receive and report on what we heard. A draft design will be prepared and will seek further feedback from the community to understand if we got it right. Everyone who provides their email address will be kept up to date with the project.

We are committed to delivering spaces across the Inner West so that everyone with all abilities can benefit from play.

In May 2022, Council committed to establishing flagship inclusive play spaces across the Inner West.

Working with disability play experts Touched By Olivia, we've since delivered inclusive play spaces at King George Park, Rozelle, Richard Murden Reserve, Haberfield and Yeo Park, Ashfield. There are also two currently being built at Camperdown Park, Camperdown and Steel Park, Marrickville.

The next will be at Centenary Park Playground, Croydon.

We’re seeking your feedback on the future of Centenary Park Playground. Your ideas will help shape a new play space that is inclusive, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

A flagship inclusive play space is a playground that has a large area which includes a variety of equipment for different ages and abilities.

The design follows the NSW Everyone Can Play Guidelines which means everyone can get there, stay there and play there successfully.

As the commitment from Council was to establish an inclusive playspace in every ward, Council and staff from Touched By Olivia conducted site visits across the Inner West and the most appropriate space was chosen for factors such as:

  • Location
  • Size of space
  • Parking
  • Access to public transport
  • Surface of existing space
  • Toilet available on site

The sporting field will be upgraded at the same time the new playground will be constructed in mid-late 2027.

You can read about this consultation and project here.

Centenary Park is located on Queen Street and Lang Street, Croydon.
