Getting to the heart of local matters

Inner West Council invites you to join ward Councillors and Council Executive staff at your Local Matters Forum. These forums provide an opportunity for residents to have a constructive conversation with elected representatives and senior staff and to raise ideas for improvements to your area.

Collectively we can continue to improve the way Council delivers for our local communities.

Local Matters Forum format for 2024

Since June 2022 Council has delivered 16 Local Matters Forums across Inner West. In response to community feedback collected at each forum, the format has evolved. At the end of 2023 we've reviewed and updated the forums to ensure they meet community needs and continue to be relevant.

How will a Local Matters Forum work in 2024?

Council’s Executive staff (Inner West General Manager and four Directors) will present some of the major local initiatives happening in your ward and answer community questions from the floor. There will also be opportunity for informal discussions with the Executive and your three ward Councillors.

Projects that will be presented on at the forum include:

  • The soon to commence upgrade of Camdenville Park
  • Enmore Road Special Entertainment Precinct – creating protections for a vibrant entertainment economy
  • Establishment of the Inner West Pride Centre – an update on renovations to the Newtown Town Hall
  • Peace Reserve, Newtown update
  • London and Simmons Streets, Enmore update
