Update August 2023

22 August 2023

On 31 January 2023, the State Heritage Register Committee considered Haberfield’s nomination and decided that it will not be progressed.

It resolved that while Haberfield may be of State Heritage significance, it is not a current priority to progress for listing on the State Heritage Register. This is also because an enquiry is being undertaken which is examining the effectiveness of the Heritage Act 1977 to “reflect and accommodate a more varied, inclusive and nuanced concept of what constitutes State’s heritage”.

There is no indication of timeline from NSW Government regarding when these amendments will be completed.
