In mid 2016 Council was advised that the NSW Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) were compulsorily leasing approximately one third of Camdenville Park for the construction of WestConnex.

As part of the WestConnex project the area originally planned in the Camdenville Park Master Plan for a BMX pump track was taken over and utilised as a construction compound. In addition the existing detention basin within the park was enlarged and small section of the park permanently acquired to straighten Bedwin Road.

While the WestConnex project work in this area is nearing completion, Council has also been advised that further works are required on the Park by Transgrid for the Alexandria Cable project.

Works on this project are expected to commence in May 2020 and will take approximately 12-18 months to complete.

We are very much committed to implementing the master plan for Camdenville Park, including the much anticipated BMX track.

We are hopeful that the State significant Infrastructure works will be completed in 2021 after which future park improvements including the installation of the BMX Track can be progressed subject to a design review by Council.

During July we asked you to have your say about play in the park

Designs have progressed to include a new play space in the middle of the park and a smaller space at the corner of Council and May Streets.

    1. The central play space will provide a wide range of fun for all kids. Its location will

    • combine younger and older children’s play in one place
    • allow views of the BMX pump track and the rest of the park
    • create a safe playing space away from the road

    2. The new corner space will provide a spot for informal play and relaxation

    3. The old playground will be removed.

We asked you for your ideas in a survey which closed on Friday 31 July 2015.
