Project updates

Project details

Ashfield Park is a well used multi-purpose park with several facilities. The park is used for training, gardening, walking, running, dog walking, playing and gathering. In March 2020 we asked for your feedback to help us create a 10-year Plan for Ashfield Park.

What is happening?

Council ran a drop-in session at Ashfield Park on 30 July 2022 to give the community an opportunity to review the updated draft Plan of Management (PoM) and Master Plan.

The Parks Planning team will now review and consider community feedback before finalising the plans. The plans will go to the elected Council for endorsement. Following endorsement the State Government must approve the land categorisation for Ashfield Park.

All those who provide feedback will be notified when the Council will consider the plans. Then the final plans will go on public exhibition for the last time.

Key proposals

  • A new interpretation strategy to highlight significant historic aspects of the park
  • New park furniture in selected shaded locations
  • Establishing a biodiversity area to the southern corner of the park
  • Continue to maintain the practice of cutting the park’s shrubs into ornamental shapes and keep the name ‘Ashfield Park’
  • Install two table tennis tables with concrete pads, accessible path and spectator seating
  • Extend and improve the community garden
  • Upgrade of one of the grass bowling greens to a synthetic green
  • An off-leash dog area in the north-east corner of the park
  • Upgrade the existing playground
