As part of Council's ongoing commitment to making the Inner West a happy, healthy community it is considering reducing the cost of entry into aquatic centres for those receiving social security payments.
What's proposed?
The proposal, endorsed at Council's meeting on 29 June 2021, would see a standard casual swimming fee of $1.20 applied for social security recipients across all Inner West Council Aquatic facilities.
This is the current fee at Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre but would mean a reduction in cost in this category for all other Council aquatic centres.

Why the change?
The aim of the proposal is to make access to Council's leisure and sporting facilities fairer. It's also hoped that, in improving affordability, Council will attract more people, more often to its aquatic centres. It's one of the many ways Council is working to promote healthy lifestyles and well-being in the Inner West.

What happens next?
Feedback will be reviewed and considered before Council makes its final decision. An Engagement Outcomes Report will be published to this page and everyone who provides feedback will receive an update when this goes to Council for a decision.
