A Plan of Management (PoM) is a strategic document providing a planning and management framework for the future use, development and maintenance. While PoM is a requirement for all community land owned by Council, it also presents an opportunity to engage with the community and create a vision and values that are consistent with the needs of the current population and establishes how the park can be used in the future.

A pocket park is a small park that has minimal or no assets.

A neighbourhood park is usually used by residents within the immediate vicinity. They can have play equipment and normally has furniture.

  • Back in 2019 we sought the feedback from the community about what they liked and what improvements they would like to see in neighbourhood and pocket parks.

The feedback captured informed the draft Plan of Management.

Read about the initial consultation here.

  • In August 2023, Council sought approval from NSW Crown Land on the Plan of Management for the 18 neighbourhood and pocket parks that are owned by NSW Crown Land.
  • Between October and November 2023, the draft Plan of Management for all other neighbourhood and pocket parks was prepared and the community was invited to have their say about those parks.

  • In January 2024, approval was given to Council to public exhibit the draft Plan of Management for the 18 parks that are owned by Crown Land.
