Yes, you can apply for up to two separate groups. In your application you will be able to nominate the preferred group from the two.

Applicants are assessed against criteria available to view on each group's web page. A panel of three Councillors and the relevant Council Director will select members for based on eligibility, how well the criteria are met and demographic representation.

Each group can have up to 10 members.

The term will run until September 2028.

Meetings are held at least four times a year with additional meetings determined by majority of the LDG members or if required by Council. Meetings are held in the evenings for around 2 hours. Time outside of the meetings may be required for reading, preparing and contributing to work allocated to the group by Council.

A community member is appointed by the group at the first meeting via a vote. For the groups already established, a chair has already been appointed.

LDGs are voluntary and unpaid.

All members of LDGs will attend an induction session once they are appointed. In addition, Council offers the following training for members:

• Understanding the Terms of Reference
• Model Code of Conduct
• Conflicts of Interest
• Effective Chairing
• Effective Participation

Council staff support the LDGs by organising meetings, preparing agendas with input from members, taking meeting notes and ensuring the group follows its Terms of Reference and Council policies.

Staff also make sure the group's feedback is considered when developing Council projects, plans, strategies, policies and reports where relevant.

Councillors are welcome to attend meetings; however, these groups are designed to represent community views. Councillors cannot introduce new agenda items or vote on matters discussed by the group.
