Have your say on the Development Application for the Central Missing Links (DA201800364)

Council has now lodged a development application for the Central Missing Links works which include

  • A new suspended path below Parramatta Road and over the Hawthorne Canal
  • An upgraded shared path through Cadigal Reserve
  • A rest stop under the main western rail line at the southern end of Cadigal Reserve
  • A shared path ramp up from Cadigal Reserve to a new tunnel below Longport Street
  • A new shared path tunnel below Longport Street
  • A shared path ramp up from the new tunnel below Longport Street to Smith Street
  • A new shared path though light rail corridor between Lewisham West Light Rail stop and Old Canterbury Road
  • A rest stop in the light rail corridor just north of Old Canterbury Road
  • Associated lighting of the shared path
  • Associated landscaping adjacent to the shared path
  • Tree removals to facilitate path construction
  • A separated cycleway in Smith Street to connect the Greenway to the regional cycle route on Longport Street

The development application will be assessed by Council and state government agencies. Based on the assessment Council will provide a recommendation to the Sydney Central Planning Panel.
The development application will be determined by the Sydney Central Planning Panel, which is independent of Council. Planning Panels operate across New South Wales to provide independent, merit-based decision making on regionally significant development.

When will the construction start?

Depending on the outcome of the Development Application, construction of the Central Missing Links, from Parramatta Road to Old Canterbury Road, is expected to commence in 2019. It is anticipated that construction of the Southern Missing Links, from Old Canterbury Road to the Cooks River, will commence in 2020.
