Project updates

At its meeting on Tuesday 16 June 2026 Council considered a report from the Local Transport Forum and made the following decision:

That Council receive and adopt the recommendations of the Local Transport Forum meeting held on 18 May 2026, subject to the following amendments:

1. Amend the recommendation to Item 6 to read:

That the detailed design plan (No.10379) for the proposed new raised pedestrian crossing on Illawarra Road at Wharf Street, Marrickville and associated signs and line markings to be approved, with the incorporation of a combined bicycle and pedestrian crossing if feasible.

2. Add the following to Item 14:

That a review of these arrangements be conducted in 12 months’ time with a view to determining whether both sides of affected streets should be included in the resident parking scheme, and the scheme expanded if it is deemed to successfully managed parking pressures in this part of South Marrickville.

That further enforcement activities be undertaken by Regulatory Services to ensure that taxis, vehicles associated with smash repairers and other businesses are being appropriately managed.

3.That the petition from residents of Lords Road and Davies Street be tabled in relation to Item 17. (The redacted petition is available at the end of these minutes).

4.That consideration of Item 17 Lords Road and Davies Street Resident Parking Scheme be deferred pending further investigation and consultation on the following:

a) The extension of the scheme operating hours on weekdays to 10:00 pm;

b) The extension of the scheme to operate seven days per week; and

c) The introduction of a one-hour parking provision on Davies Street.

5. A further report addressing the above be brought back to a future meeting for determination.
