The purpose of the Environment Local Democracy Group is to:

  • Contribute to achieving community outcomes as set out in the Inner West Community Strategic Plan and implementation of Council’s four-year Delivery Program
  • Provide input into development and implementation of Inner West policies, strategic plans and/or programs as related to the environment as requested
  • Serve as a resource for Council in relation to matters which Council resolves to bring before the LDG for input
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of the Climate Adaptation Plan
  • Provide input into the development and implementation of the Climate and Renewables Strategy
  • Provide input as requested into the implementation of the Zero Waste Strategy, in particular (but not limited to) emerging circular economy initiatives
  • Provide input as requested into implementation of the Biodiversity Strategy
  • Provide input as requested into the strategies to increase community engagement and volunteering along the Greenway and in Council’s bushcare and ecology programs generally
  • Provide input as requested into the implementation of the Integrated Transport Strategy and related plans and strategies.

  1. Experience in environmental initiatives, actions or with local environmental groups
  2. Knowledge and understanding of the local environment, environmental issues and sustainability
  3. Live / work / study in the Inner West local government area
