Project details

Yeo Park and Gough Reserve are highly valued by the community who rate the park as a desirable location for walking, picnicking, relaxing and using the playground facilities.

Background

In 2016 the former Ashfield Council engaged consultants to prepare plans of management for its parks including Yeo Park and Gough Reserve. A Plan of Management, a 10 year plan, is a strategic document providing a planning and management framework for the future use, development and maintenance of community lands.

How will the plan be implemented?

The plan will inform future directions in park use and maintenance. If new directions emerge Council will consider whether they satisfy the objectives of the plan, zoning and categorisation.

What is happening now?

Council has developed a Draft Plan of Management for Yeo Park and Gough Reserve to guide their use and future improvements.

The draft plan is based on feedback from the community. Key features include:

  • A dog off leash area
  • Restoration of the band rotunda and formalisation of its hire
  • Fencing around the eastern periphery along Old Canterbury Road
  • Greater variety of tables, seating and BBQs within the park
  • More taps and bubblers
  • Clarification of Council’s responsibilities within the park and Yeo Park Infant School's responsibilities
