Whites Creek Valley Park Playground Upgrade


Council is upgrading this playground on Railway Parade, Annandale, as part of the the 2017/18 Open Space budget. Improvements will include upgrade of the playground facilities, seating and landscaping.


Community engagement process

1. Onsite Community Workshop

Council held an onsite community workshop on Saturday 6 May, 2017 which five local residents, including two children, and LRAC member Darcy Byrne attended.

The workshop focused on the project brief, key community issues, ideas and concepts for an upgraded play space. See the Site Analysis and Opportunities Plan that was presented at this workshop.

2. Survey

What happens next?

The upgrade works are planned to commence in February 2018 and are expected to be completed in March 2018, weather permitting. The hours of work will be 7am-5.30pm Monday-Friday.

    Work will commence early April 2018 and is expected to be completed early May 2018, weather permitting. The upgrade includes:

    • Refurbishing the cubby house
    • Replacing the synthetic grass
    • Replacing the big slide and spider web with a new multi-play unit for older children
    • Replacing the swings with a three seat swing set including an inclusive nest swing
    • Installing a new inclusive see-saw and nature play area
    • Installing a new table bench, bubbler and access path

    Council reviewed and considered all responses and suggestions received in the engagements held earlier this year and looked to address them where possible.
