Project details
Inner West Council's framework for supporting community gardens is outlined in the Community Gardens Policy. The policy states 'Council enables community gardens that operate on land it manages through licences or deeds.'
What is this agreement for?
Whites Creek Community Garden is communal space managed by garden members, under the auspice of Friends of Whites Creek Valley Park. The garden is run on organic principles.
Inner West Council intends to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Whites Creek Community Garden Incorporated for the purpose of permitting this group to continue to operate a community garden in two sections of Whites Creek Valley Park, lot A at 25 White Street Lilyfield (DP 461062) and lot 8 Section 5 at 29 White Street Lilyfield (DP 3001).
What is included in this agreement?
This Memorandum of Understanding is aligned with the updated Inner West Council Community Gardens Policy:
- The Licence agreement is for 3 years with option to extend for a further 2 years.
- Whites Creek Community Garden is divided into two sections, at 25 and 29 White Street, Lilyfield, beside Whites Creek Cottage (see map below).
