At its meeting on 3 December 2024, Council resolved to seek ideas from businesses and the community in Tempe and Sydenham on proposed improvements along the Princes Highway from Cooks River to Railway Road.

The Princes Highway in Tempe and Sydenham, NSW, is an arterial road in Sydney’s inner west, serving as a key route connecting the city to the southern suburbs and beyond. The stretch between the Cooks River and Railway Road, is a busy commercial and transport corridor, featuring a mix of retail businesses, industrial areas, and residential pockets.


What improvements are proposed?

  • Support for local businesses on the Highway
  • Additional tree plantings
  • Incorporation of Water Sensitive Urban Design elements and principles
  • Improvements to pedestrian and active transport infrastructure
  • Street furniture updates
  • Signage
