At its meeting on Tuesday 25 August 2026, Council adopted revised governance and risk policies and endorsed their public exhibition.

Governance and risk policies

Across the suite of policies being exhibited, amendments are primarily minor in nature and focus on improving clarity, consistency, and readability. These include updates to wording, structure, and formatting. No changes have been made that alter the underlying intent, principles, or requirements of the policies.

Data Breach Policy

In line with Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, specifically Part 6A Mandatory Notification of Data Breach (MNDB) Scheme from Privacy and Personal Information Protection Amendment Act 2022; and guidance provided by the Information Privacy Commission.

Updated for clarity, including additional clauses to bring into alignment with legislative requirements.

Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy

Based on the OLG Model Councillor and Staff Interaction Policy and also elements from OLG Model Code of Conduct.

Changes:

  • Incorporates the risk of psychosocial behaviour in Councillor and staff interactions under section 8.2
  • Includes volunteers in the provisions governing behaviour standards (8.1 and 8.2) and complaint pathways (9.1).
  • Schedule 1 updated.
