Project details
Council is proposing to re-establish alcohol-free and alcohol prohibited areas for New Year’s Eve 2023-2026. These alcohol restrictions will be in place from 12.00pm (midday) 31st December to 3.00am 1st January.
Alcohol-free zones cover public roads, footpaths, car parks and laneways. Areas that will be alcohol-free include:
- Darling Street (between Darling Street Wharf and Little Nicholson Street)
- Darling Street Wharf
- Looks Avenue Reserve
- Weston Street
Alcohol-prohibited areas apply to parks and civic spaces. These areas include:

Harris Reserve | Brownlee Reserve | Mort Bay Park |
College Street Playground | Simmons Point Reserve | Thornton Park |
Illoura Reserve | Lookes Avanue | 2-8 Weston Street |
