As part of our Capital Works Program Financial Year 25-26, Council is spending $300,000 on upgrading two
playgrounds in Newtown:
- Norton Russell Reserve Playground, 109 Bedford Street, Newtown
- George Smith Playground, St Marys Street, Newtown.
We are at the early stages and are seeking your feedback which will help inform the new playground designs.
The feedback we receive during the consultation will inform the new playground designs. This could include
- Selection of play equipment
- Range of play experiences
- Seating, shade and furniture in the playground area

Last day to provide feedback is Monday 25 August 2025
All feedback received will be reviewed and consolidated into a report. Everyone who participated will be notified of the outcomes.
The feedback captured will inform the design plans for the future upgrades of this playground.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by June 2026.
