Inner West Council's framework for supporting community gardens is outlined in the Community Gardens Policy. The policy states 'Council enables community gardens that operate on land it manages through licences or deeds.'

What is this agreement for?

Mort Bay Community Garden is dedicated to growing organic vegetables and sharing community knowledge. Situated in a public park and native bush environment, the garden offers healthy opportunities for the community to get involved.

Inner West Council intends to enter into a new Licence agreement with Mort Bay Community Garden Incorporated for the purpose of permitting this group to continue to operate a community garden in one section of Mort Bay Park (Lot 24 DP 1031154).

What is included in the licence?

This Licence agreement is aligned with the updated Inner West Council Community Gardens Policy.

  • The Licence agreement is for 3 years with option to extend for a further 2 years.
  • Mort Bay Community Garden is located behind the John McMahon Early Learning Centre, between Short Street and McKell Street within the park (see map below).
