Council will not be undertaking street-based parking investigation for new RPS on the above streets for a period of twelve months (until May 2026) unless there are major changes to land use within the area.

Project details

Council has received requests from residents, for a review of the existing Resident Parking Scheme (RPS) in Moore Street, Catherine Street, Annesley Street, Hill Street and Mackenzie Street to better manage on-street parking in the area.

In late 2024, parking occupancy surveys were undertaken in the above streets and results indicated high parking occupancy levels, above 85% during different times of the day.

What is being proposed?

It is proposed to:

  • Install ‘1P 8am-6pm, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-12:30pm, Sat’ on north side of Moore Street between Mackenzie Street and No.119 Moore Street, Leichhardt
  • Expand the Resident Parking Scheme (RPS) in Moore Street, Annesley Street, Mackenzie Street, Catherine Street and Hill Street, by installing ‘2P 8am-6pm, Mon-Fri, Permit Holders Excepted, Area L1', as shown in the plan below.

FAQ

Majority support from responding properties in the subject Areas are required for consideration to modify an RPS.

There will be no changes to existing parking permit eligibility.

What happens next?

If supported a report, including feedback from the community, will be considered by Council’s Local Traffic Committee. The Committee’s recommendations will then be considered by Council where a final decision will be made. Everyone who provides feedback will be notified when the report is considered by the Committee.
