Mort Bay Park is a local park located on the edge of Balmain and Birchgrove and includes a playground with various equipment, numerous open spaces and great views of Sydney Harbour.

Inner West Council is investing $2 million to upgrade and improve this much loved space.

Stage one

Upgrading the playground

Earlier this year, we asked you for input on upgrading the playground. The top playground equipment preferences were:

  • Multiplay unit
  • Nature based play
  • Monkey bars
  • Water play.

Participants also would like further shade.

Council will include these features including a new additional shade sail in the upgrade. Construction is scheduled to take place in February 2025.

Stage two

Improving Mort Bay Park

At its meeting on 22 October 2024, Council resolved to invest $2 million on Mort Bay Park and include the following improvements:

  • A new toilet near the playground and ferry wharf
  • Fixing park drainage and muddy areas
  • Improving lighting throughout the park to make night-time use safer
  • Table tennis tables
  • Picnic tables
  • BBQs
  • Seating
  • Outdoor gym equipment
Let us know your feedback on these latest proposals to help us improve and preserve this unique public park.
