Inner West Council, with the support of NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and specialist flood consultants Stantec, have developed the Alexandra Canal Flood Risk Management Study and Plan.

The plan builds on the Alexandra Canal Flood Study which was adopted by Council in 2017. It follows initial community engagement in early 2023. The study and plan outlines:

  • the impact of flooding across the catchment
  • evacuation and response strategies
  • several options for reducing flood risk in the catchment.

At its meeting on Tuesday 9 April 2024 Council endorsed the Alexandra Canal Flood Risk Management Study and Plan for public exhibition.
