Council is improving the bicycle route on Lilyfield Road to make it safer, more convenient and enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities to ride a bike. This is an important regional route which connects people to the Cooks River, Bay Run, Victoria Road, ANZAC Bridge and further away destinations including Newtown and Sydney CBD.
This project is funded by the NSW Government. Along with making it safer and easier to ride a bike, it will improve the streetscape with landscaping, additional trees and reduced traffic speed.
Background
In June 2016, Council held a workshop to get feedback on three preliminary design options for a separated cycleway. The local community and others interested in the project – like people who ride along Lilyfield Road – gave feedback at the workshop and through surveys, an online map tool, emails and phone calls. The information received through this process was then used to create a draft concept plan which was publicly exhibited in November 2016. The feedback received through the public exhibition was then used to develop the revised draft concept plan.
What’s happening now?
A revised draft concept plan has been developed using the community’s feedback and working with Sydney Buses, Transport for NSW and Roads & Maritime Services.
Attend a drop-in session to ask the project team questions and provide feedback. Feel free to come any time as there are no formal presentations.
