November 2017 - Comment on new landscaped stormwater options for Hoskins Park

9 November 2017

Council is working with Sydney Water to understand how waterway health in Hoskins Park can be improved. Sydney Water is seeking feedback from the community on options for new landscaping in the grassed areas of the park that would treat stormwater. The benefits to waterway health would be:

• cleaner stormwater entering the Hawthorne Canal
• new habitat areas for native plants and animals

The landscaped treatment area may also offer new natural play areas.

Next steps:

If a landscaped stormwater treatment area is supported by the community, Sydney Water and Inner West Council will work closely to include the stormwater landscaping in Council's Master Plan for Hoskins Park. Council is currently developing the Master Plan based on community feedback. A draft Master Plan will be publicly exhibited in 2018 for further community feedback.
