The Annandale Community Centre offers a variety of programs and activities for the Inner West Council Community such as the Annandale Drawing Group, Annandale Craft Group and Tai Chi classes. The Community Centre also supports groups such as the Annandale Playgroup, hosts after school care and offers the rooms for private hire.

What's happening now

Council is proposing to upgrade the existing courtyard to capitalise on the space by resurfacing with turf, building a multipurpose stage with steps, installing curved wooden seating and adding much needed storage space.The upgrade will allow greater flexibility for play and community use and will enhance the open space at Annandale Community Centre.

The proposed upgrade will :

• Maintain the existing open space for flexibile play/use;
• Enhance the open space by installing seating against the seatwall edge;
• Utilise the existing central tree for shade and add a focal point by installing seats around it;
• Formalise access from Johnson Lane by adding a pathway;
• Add a hedge to soften the fence and encourage biodiversity;
• Clean up the area surrounding the sandpit and add paving;
• Refurbish the existing cubby house;
• Optional - Add a stage to encourage imaginative play;
• Optional - Add outdoor lights to extend the time the courtyard can be used into the evening.

What happens next

Your feedback will be considered when Council develops the final plan. Work is expected to commence on the courtyard in September 2016.
