Council’s Resident Parking Scheme Policy says that at least 50% of properties in the area must support the proposal before it can be considered. Each property gets one vote.
The support rate is the percentage of properties that voted in favour of the scheme, based on the total number of properties in the area.
The response rate is the percentage of properties that submitted a valid vote, also based on the total number of properties.
Due to insufficient support, the proposal will not go ahead.
Council may re-investigate parking issues in this location after a 24-month moratorium period unless there are significant changes in land use around the immediate area.”
Project details
We want your feedback on a proposed change to parking on Nelson Street, between Booth Street and Rose Street in Annandale.
Why are we proposing this change?
Residents have told Council that many non-residents are parking on Nelson Street for long periods.
To understand the issue, Council carried out a parking survey in May 2025. The results showed that more than 85% of parking spaces were full at various times during the day.
What are we proposing?
Council is proposing a Resident Parking Scheme (RPS) for this section of Nelson Street.
If approved, the new signs will read:
‘2P 8am–6pm, Monday to Friday – Permit Holders Excepted, Area A1’
This means:
- Anyone can park for up to 2 hours between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
- Residents with a valid Area A1 parking permit can park with no time limit during these hours.
Council will also install 10-metre ‘No Stopping’ zones at all intersections if they’re not already in place, as required by NSW Road Rules.
