Project details
2 Malthouse Way is located within the Flour Mill complex and comprises of four buildings identified as SP94960, SP92961, SP98375 and SP98376.
Currently, three of the four strata buildings are geographically aligned to the suburb of Summer Hill, while 2 Malthouse Way (SP98376), is situated in the suburb of Lewisham.
We are seeking feedback from residents on if they support realigning the suburb boundary which will change the suburb of 2 Malthouse Way from Lewisham to Summer Hill.
The current boundary between the Summer Hill and Lewisham suburbs follows the Hawthorne Canal. Since the opening of the Inner West Light Rail Extension in 2014, the canal is no longer suitable as a suburb divider and needs to be replaced by the more visible Light Rail Corridor. Realigning the suburb boundary to a more prominent geographical feature is in line with the NSW Addressing Policy.
Council was approached by 2 Malthouse Way Strata Committee to investigate a change of suburb for the address, from Lewisham to Summer Hill.
The Flour Mill complex comprises four buildings identified as SP94960, SP92961, SP98375 and SP98376. Currently, three of the four strata buildings are geographically aligned to the suburb of Summer Hill, while 2 Malthouse Way (SP98376), is situated in the suburb of Lewisham.
If the suburb is changed, all four strata buildings will be geographically aligned to the suburb of Summer Hill. Residents of 2 Malthouse Way will be in the Inner West Council Ashfield-Djarrawunang ward and no longer be in the Stanmore-Damun ward.
Amending the suburb boundary will result in unifying the addresses of all four buildings within the stratum complex. This change will also improve access for emergency services and mail delivery issues.
