Yule Street, Dulwich Hill - improving safety and parking


At its meeting on 3 May 2016, Council recommended amending the proposal to improve safety in Yule Street by installing speed cushions and slow points along with investigating angle parking.

This recommendation combined with feedback from the community, has been used to develop an amended proposal to improve safety and parking in Yule Street.

The amended proposal includes:

  • introducing angle parking on the northern side of Yule Street, between New Canterbury Road and Fairfowl Street;
  • introducing angle parking on the southern side of Yule Street, between Fairfowl Street and Wardell Road;
  • installing four slow points with landscaped traffic islands and speed cushions in front of properties 2A,17, 37 and 87 Yule Street; and
  • planting six new trees in the landscaped islands.

This benefits of this proposal are: slowing traffic, creating additional on-street parking and improving the streetscape with new trees.

What happens next?

Council has not yet made a commitment to change the traffic arrangements in Yule Street. A report that includes community feedback will be considered by Council’s Local Traffic Committee at its meeting on 1 September 2016. The Committee will make recommendations based on the objectives of the proposal and submissions received and these recommendations will be referred to Council for its consideration at its meeting 27 September 2016.

When is the work planned for?

The works are expected to be built in 2016/17 financial year subject to outcome of the community engagement, final approvals and funding allocations. Residents will be notified before work starts.
