Public Hearing on the proposed re-categorisation of the Cooks River Parklands
Community land such as the parks along the Cooks River foreshore must be categorised to detail how the parks are used and managed by Council for the community.
For example - a ‘Natural area’ requires Council to preserve the natural qualities of the land while ‘General Community Use’ requires Council to preserve the land for recreation, cultural and the social needs of the community.
The draft Plan of Management proposes a re-categorisation of the Cooks River Parklands to create better use of the open space. occurs when there are changes proposed to the existing categorisation.
As a requirement of the Local Government Act a public hearing is required to ensure the community supports the intended changes to the existing categorisation and park uses.
