Scouller Street Rain Garden

Council is proposing to build a rain garden in Scouller Street, Marrickville at the intersection with Juliett Street. The proposed works will:

widen the footpaths and narrow the road, to create a rain garden that will filter stormwater so that it is clean before it flows to the Cooks River

create a safer environment for pedestrians by slowing traffic and reducing the crossing distance

create more permeable surfaces to reduce runoff and increase the amount of greening for habitat and biodiversity in the area

To accommodate the rain garden, the proposed works will result in the loss of two car parking spaces in Scouller Street. Download the plan here.

Have your say on the plan

Council is asking surrounding residents and property owners to have their say about the improvements and will consider all comments received before making the final decision on the design.

Should you will to provide any comments regarding the proposal, please do so by Friday 28 November 2014 at 5.00pm using the submission form below.

Up to this point we have...

  • surveyed residents and property owners to find out what they think about the area and how it can be improved

  • held the first site meeting with residents (July 2014)

  • held a Council internal design meeting to ensure that we have the best technical solutions incorporated into the design (October 2014)

  • held a site meeting with residents to discuss the design for the laneway (October 2014)

  • provided information through on this site.
