Council conducted a review of dogs in parks at Elliot Park and Balmain Cove between November 2017 and February 2018. This included seeking community comment on a proposed dog off leash trial. Council approved a six month trial between June 2018 and December 2018 at its meeting on 8 May 2018.

We’re now evaluating the trial and encourage all park users and local residents to provide input as part of this process.

What happens next

Following the completion of the evaluation process, a report on the trial will be submitted to Council.
Council is also undertaking an assessment of the safety and accessibility of neighbouring townhouses, adjacent to Elliott Park, as per the Council resolution.

The existing trial conditions will remain in operation pending Council’s decision.
