Pine Street, Marrickville - improving safety and increasing parking


Council is proposing to increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists while addressing concerns about lack of parking in Pine Street, Marrickville.

The proposal involves:

  • Reconstructing the pedestrian refuge island at Wardell Road to current standards;
  • Installing a 10 metre green bicycle lane at Wardell Road and road bicycle markings from Wardell Road to South Street;
  • Providing angled parking on the northern side of Pine Street;
  • Constructing landscaped kerb blister islands at either side of the angled parking zones;
  • Installing new street trees;
  • Providing associated linemarking including parking bays, centre lines and edge lines; and
  • Providing associated signage, replacing any damaged signs and repairing faded road markings.
This proposal will result in the increase of on-street parking by approximately 23 spaces in Pine Street
