Pedestrian safety on West Street in Lewisham

Thank you for your comments. This engagement has finished.

In response to community requests to improve safety at the pedestrian crossing in West Street, Council has prepared designs to construct kerb blister islands and to reseal the road.

The proposal is to narrow the road at the pedestrian crossing and to better highlight the pedestrian crossing to motorists.

Council also proposes to construct a small rain garden within one of the new kerb islands which will treat stormwater before it enters the underground drainage system.

As part of this proposal, some on-street parking in the vicinity of pedestrian crossing will be affected – (see attached Plan No. 5981).

Council is consulting with residents affected by the proposal and will consider all comments received before making a final decision.
