Livingstone Road, Marrickville - improving pedestrian & motorist safety

Council is investigating a proposal to improve safety by extending the existing ‘No Stopping’ restrictions at the pedestrian refuge in Livingstone Road, Marrickville, near the Arthur Street intersection - see map. An investigation of this intersection has revealed that the sight lines for motorists are restricted by vehicles parking on Livingstone Road to the east of the intersection. As a result, there have been several accidents involving vehicles exiting Arthur Street.

The proposal involves extending the existing ‘No Stopping’ restrictions to the east of the pedestrian crossing by approximately 14 metres on the southern side (outside properties 216 to 212 Livingstone Road, Marrickville). The map illustrates the proposed parking changes which will result in the loss of approximately three parking spaces. However, the proposal will improve safety with better visibility of pedestrians at the crossing and sight lines for motorists turning from Arthur Street.
