Improving safety in Railway Avenue, Stanmore

As part of its commitment towards reducing traffic speeds and improving safety, Council has prepared design plans to slow down traffic using Railway Avenue, Stanmore.

The changes proposed are recommendations from the Stanmore North Local Area Traffic Management Strategy endorsed by Council in 2010 following public consultation.

As part of the work six (6) new sets of speed cushions are proposed in Railway Avenue to slow traffic and improve safety. No change to existing parking arrangements is proposed in Railway Avenue.

The plans will provide -

  • Speed cushions opposite numbers 104 & 102 (west of Surrey Street)

  • Speed cushions opposite number 70 (east of Warwick Street)

  • Speed cushions opposite numbers 52 & 48 (west of Durham Street)

  • Speed cushions opposite number 42 (east of Lincoln Street)

  • Speed cushions opposite numbers 24 & 22 (east of Stafford Street)

  • Speed cushions opposite number 4 (east of Cardigan Street)

The above works are expected to be built in 2015.

    What happens next?

    Council has not yet made a final commitment to change the existing parking and traffic arrangements in your street.

    All submissions will be included in a report to Council’s Pedestrian, Cyclist and Traffic Calming Advisory Committee at its meeting to be held on 12 February 2015.  The recommendations from this Committee meeting will then be referred to Council’s Infrastructure, Planning and Environmental Services Committee at its meeting to be held on 3 March 2015.  All comments made will be taken into consideration by Council prior to finalising the plans.

    What happens next?
