Improving safety at Excelsior Parade and Renwick Street, Marrickville

Thanks for your submission, this engagement is now closed.

As part of its commitment towards reducing traffic crashes and vehicle speeds to improve safety, Council has prepared design plans to slow down traffic using the existing roundabout at Excelsior Parade and Renwick Street, Marrickville.

The changes proposed are recommendations from the Council’s Pedestrian, Cyclist and Traffic Calming Advisory Committee endorsed by Council in 2012.

As part of the work new speed cushions and traffic islands are proposed in Excelsior Parade and Renwick Street Road to slow traffic and improve safety at the existing roundabout.

The plan (download here) will provide -

  • Landscaped kerb blisters in Excelsior Parade and Renwick Street at the roundabout approaches

  • Pedestrian refuge traffic islands in Excelsior Parade in the roundabout approaches

  • Speed cushions in Excelsior Parade and Renwick Street in the roundabout approaches

In the proposal four parking spaces would be removed to provide landscaped kerb blister traffic islands in Renwick Street and around the large trees in Excelsior Parade, and to comply with relevant Standards and Guidelines. The landscaped kerb blisters help to protect the large trees in Excelsior Parade as well as improving the streetscape at the roundabout.

The above works are expected to be built in 2015.
