Improving pedestrian safety in Kintore Street, Dulwich Hill

Thank you for your submission. This engagement has finished.

Transport for NSW proposes to build a raised pedestrian crossing in Kintore Street at the intersection of Hercules Street to improve the access to the Dulwich Grove Light Rail station.

The new crossing will replace the existing pedestrian crossing on the Hercules Street bridge to increase safety.

The plan will

·
Provide a new raised pedestrian crossing across Kintore Street to improve safety and pedestrian access to the Dulwich Grove light rail station

· Remove the new pedestrian crossing on the Hercules Street bridge due to safety concerns and remove the “zig-zag” linemarking

· Remove two parking spaces in Kintore Street to provide the minimum “No Stopping” restrictions which must be provided near pedestrian crossings

· Remove an existing small bottlebrush tree at the proposed crossing and provide concrete footpath to the new crossing

· Provide landscaped kerb islands on the Hercules Street bridge to stop pedestrian access

· Provide 'No Stopping' signs on both sides of Hercules Street next to the guardrail on the bridge near the crest as it is unsafe for parking – this will remove approximately 10 parking spaces on the bridge next to the safety guardrail.

The new raised pedestrian crossing is expected to be built in 2015.
