Hillcrest Street, Tempe - increasing parking

Council has received requests from Hillcrest Street residents to increase the number of available on-street parking spaces. In response to these requests, Council has done an investigation which indicates that angle parking is possible on the southern side of Hillcrest Street.

Council has developed a proposal to introduce angle parking in Hillcrest Street which includes:

  • Providing 90 degree angle parking spaces with associated line marking and signs which will create approximately 23 new parking spaces;
  • Creating a painted island at the northern end of the street to close-off the angle parking zone; and
  • Providing a space for a future rainwater garden to be constructed on the painted island (subject to funding allocation). A rainwater garden is a landscaped traffic island which treats stormwater before it re-enters the underground drainage system.

See the plan for this proposal for more details.
