Project updates

Project details

Council is proposing to construct a raised pedestrian crossing on the northern side of Hercules Street, at Consett Street, to improve safety for children attending Dulwich Hill Public School.

This proposal addresses concerns raised by the Dulwich Hill Public School and the P&C Committee about the safety of school children crossing Hercules Street.

The proposed works include:

  • Installing a raised pedestrian crossing
  • Providing two landscaped kerb blister islands
  • Reconstructing the median island near the pedestrian crossing
  • Removing the existing tree on the western side of the proposed pedestrian crossing
  • Improving the lighting near the pedestrian crossing by installing two new flood lights and upgrading lighting at the roundabout
  • Providing new edge line markings
  • Installing associated signage, replacing any damaged signs and repairing faded road markings.

Parking changes

The proposal includes removing the ‘No Stopping’ section on the western side of the road which would create one new parking space.
