New playground for Toyer Street Reserve, Tempe


Council is planning to renew the playground in 2015/16 and seeks your input on the improvements.

The detailed design process is about to begin. Construction is planned to start in spring 2015, during which time, the playground will be closed. The new playground is expected to open at the beginning of 2016.

  • Upgrade to start late November

    The upgrade works will commence late November 2015 and are expected to be completed by late January 2016, weather permitting.

    The upgrade includes:

    • Removal of existing playground equipment and synthetic grass surface.
    • Installation of new play equipment, rubber surface and concrete edge
    • Garden bed and tree planting.
    • New seating

    A Construction Work Zone will be in place adjacent to the reserve on Toyer Street. Parking will not be permitted Monday to Friday between 7am and 5pm for the duration of the works with the exception of 21st December 2015...

    The upgrade works will commence late November 2015 and are expected to be completed by late January 2016, weather permitting.

    Council thanks residents for their patience during the construction period. Nearby alternative playgrounds available during the closure include Mackey Park, Tillman Park, Sydenham Green and Kendrick Park.

    The concept plan has now been developed for Toyer Street Reserve. All suggestions put forward by the community were considered and where possible these have been incorporated into the plan. These include:

    - Swings

    - Slide

    - Seating

    - Natural Play features

    - Multifunctional platform and climbing structure

    - Fencing is being considered for inclusion in the project subject to additional funds.
