Gilbert Barry Reserve upgrade in Dulwich Hill

Gilbert Barry Reserve is a pocket park on Wardell Road in Dulwich Hill. The space has been looking tired and in need of an upgrade. Council is currently working on a long term strategy in Dulwich Hill to create a safe, connected and healthy community for all residents. The upgrade is a step toward achieving those goals as well as enhancing the reserve itself.

Gilbert Barry was Mayor of Petersham in 1927 and Mayor of Marrickville in 1949.

What Council will be doing

The location of the reserve makes it well suited as a place for sitting and relaxing. The existing community garden will continue to function in its current form.

The upgrade includes:

  • Removal of existing furniture, concrete slabs and low brick wall;
  • Turf, garden bed and tree planting; and
  • Landscape construction works to provide a public rest area including new furniture and water fountain
