Enmore Road and Phillip Street, Enmore - improving cycling facilities


Council is proposing to improve the cycleway at the intersection of Enmore Road with Phillip Street, Enmore. These improvements are in response to community requests and feedback.

The proposed works include:

  • Introducing a bicycle symbol on the traffic lights at the western corner of the intersection to indicate crossing priority for bicycles and pedestrians;
  • Providing a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians along Enmore Road between Simmons Street and Phillip Street;
  • Creating an area ahead of vehicles for cyclists to turn into Enmore Road from Phillip Street;
  • Widening the existing kerb ramp in Enmore Road at the northwestern corner; and

  • Improving street lighting at the intersection.

This proposal would not result in the loss of any legal on street parking spaces in Enmore Road or Phillip Street. Vehicle access to adjoining properties will be retained. See a plan of the proposal

What happens next?

All comments will be included in a report to the Pedestrian, Cyclist and Traffic Calming Advisory Committee and considered at its meeting to be held on 10 December 2015.

The recommendations from this meeting will then be referred to Council’s Infrastructure, Planning and Environmental Services Committee for consideration at its meeting to be held in February 2016.

When are the works planned for?

The works are planned for this financial year, depending on the outcome of the consultation process, final approvals and funding allocations.Residents will be notified when works are due to start.
