David Street Marrickville - streetscape upgrade.

David Street is a beautiful, distinctive street with many mature trees. The existing asphalt road surface has reached its useful life and requires replacement. As part of this replacement it is propsed to combine best practice tree management and infrastructure methods so that Council can:

  • improve accessibility
  • create attractive places for people to live
  • contribute to a healthy environment through improved water, tree, and biodiversity management
  • coordinate works so there is less disruption to the street

Council proposes to -

  • remove the existing asphalt road surface
  • lay a new asphalt road surface
  • construct a landscaped area around the existing trees on the roadway which will be planted with hardy, low-maintenance local native grasses and groundcovers
  • install coir log edgings
  • retain the existing healthy street trees whilst minimising the loss of parking spaces
  • replace any old or damaged street signs
