Car Share Policy

Project status

  • Public exhibition of this project has concluded.
  • All feedback will be reported to the elected Council. The decision will be published on this site when available. Thanks to everyone who participated.

Marrickville Council has supported car sharing in the local government area (LGA) since 2007 as part of a holistic approach to encouraging more sustainable modes of travel and reducing dependency on private cars.

Car sharing is an integral component of a sustainable transport system, complementing improvements to public transport services and enhanced facilities for cycling and walking.  Council has drafted a car share policy to help address continued pressure on on-street parking and better manage parking in our congested inner city neighbourhoods.

This draft policy is now on public exhibition. This is an opportunity for the community to make comments until 16 April 2014 after which Council will consider any submissions and then finalise and adopt the policy.
