New Year's Eve alcohol-free zones along the Balmain Peninsula

Council is proposing to re-establish alcohol-free and alcohol prohibited areas for New Year’s Eve 2019-2022. These alcohol restrictions will be in place from 12.00pm (midday) 31st December to 3.00am 1st January.

Alcohol-free zones cover public roads, footpaths, car parks and laneways. Areas that will be alcohol-free include:

  • Darling Street (between Darling Street Wharf and Little Nicholson Street)
  • Darling Street Wharf
  • Looks Avenue Reserve
  • Weston Street

Alcohol-prohibited areas apply to parks and civic spaces. These areas include:

  • Yurulbin Park
  • Birchgrove Park
  • Miklouho-Maclay Park
  • Harris Reserve
  • Brownlee Reserve
  • Mort Bay Park
  • College Street Playground
  • Simmons Point Reserve
  • Thornton Park
  • Illoura Reserve
  • Lookes Avanue
  • 2-8 Weston Street
