Council is proposing to amend the Marrickville Local Environmental Plan (MLEP) 2011 and Marrickville Development Control Plan (MDCP) 2011 for 141-161 New Canterbury Road, Lewisham (also known as 147 New Canterbury Road, Lewisham)

This proposal is to amend existing planning controls for the site’s potential redevelopment. If approved, this would allow construction of apartments above ground level business (or other permitted land uses) and enhance streetscape amenity.

Council has also drafted a development control amendment that includes site specific controls to guide any future redevelopment of the subject land. This amendment, MDCP 2011 Part 9.36 (Petersham Commercial Precinct) is also on public exhibition.

5. The proposed planning control amendments are to be included within the Marrickville Development Control Plan 2011 as a consequence of this planning proposal. These will apply to any future re-development of 141-161 New Canterbury Road, Lewisham.

The NSW Department of Planning & Environment (DP&E) under Section 56 of the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment (EP&A) Act 1979 has authorised Council to exhibit the proposed amendment to the Marrickville Local Environmental Plan (MLEP) 2011. The Minister of Planning & Environment has issued an authorisation delegating the making of the plan to Council.
